A Place Beyond The Pines Clip Analyse

A Place Beyond The  Pines(2012)Clip Analyse This clip clearly defines the genre of the movie due to its use of common conventions/troupes of M.E.S (Mise-En-Scene), camera, sound, editing. An example of cinematography/camera being used to clearly indicate the genre of the film is the use of handheld camera, this is often used in Dramas to gives a sense of realism by making the camera feel like the audience's eyes. This technique has been used in Dramas like "Little Miss Sunshine" (2006) to convey the same tone as this realistic tone allowing the audience to put themselves into the picture and sympathise despite maybe having nothing in common. The camera is also used to put our selves in Lukes (Ryan Goslings) shoes by focusing on him for the majority of the clip with close-ups on in his face as he reacts to events such as his child getting baptised without him. This puts the audience in his shoes by making him the connection to the clip as we focus on his perception of

Effect Of Sound In Film

Image
Clip Of A Film Where Sound Is a Component  Good Will Hunting (1998) The sound is used at the end of the clip and is non diegetic as it is used to show the release of Wills emotions as he finally lets out his feeling he has suppressed to his therapist as the music compliments the hugging and opening up to John as he cries into his shoulder because when Will does this the music plays at the same time which could mean the sound in this scene is a metaphor for Will as its silent in the beginning similar to how Will pretends he is fine the lack of music/non diegetic sound hides the emotions in the scene and when the silence is broken and it can set the tone and emotion of scene Will also shows his inner emotions to John. This is linked to the context of the film as the plot of this film is for Will to discover who he is and confront his problems and the emotions with them. Makes the audience feel at ease due to the ending of suspense due to this scene being uncomfortable qui

Crimson Peak Clip Analyse

Crimson Peak (2015)Clip Analyse M.E.S (Mise-En-Scene) In the clip M.E.S is used to demonstrate a typical horror atmosphere by using low key lighting to outline the frightening setting due to darkness in films symbolizing the unknown, mankind's greatest fear and has been used in other Gothic horror films such as 'Woman In Black' (2012) to distill a lack of ease in the audience by keeping them on their toes in an unknown/unfamiliar setting where a threat lurks in the shadows. The only low key light in the scene is a candle held by the protagonist Edith (Mia Wasikowska) this symbolizes her as the hope of the scene due to light usually representing hope as it lets the audience see into the darkness and real the shadows within, this is also proven by Mia's costume being a white dress of the time period which symbolizes purity in films from wedding dresses in rom-coms to white tuxedos in James Bond franchise, it lets us know as an audience who to route for (who is good

A Level Film Enrolment Task

Thoroughbreds  Released April 6th 2018 Directed by Cory Finley Comedy, Drama, Crime Thoroughbreds, Cory Finley's directorial debut which follows an unlikely re-connection of old friends Lily (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Amanda (Olivia Cooke) after going separate ways in life now rejoin to plan and execute a sinister plot that could change there lives forever for better or worse. A modern "American Psycho" (2000) staring upper-class high schoolers. I have picked this film as the favourite of my summer as Cory Finley uses sound and cinematography to create an original tension and suspense-filled plot that has you intrigued and mortified every scene. The camera work mostly using Steadicam much like one of the great horror movies of all time "The Shining" (1980) allows smooth and personal shots as we watch the characters isolated and vulnerable as they move, further expanding upon the character Amanda as we see her emotional distance in these shots throughou
